OCR Studio Shares Its Results from MWC Barcelona 2026

MWC Barcelona 2026, one of the largest international events for the mobile communications industry that took place from 2-5 March, has come to an end. OCR Studio, a leader in optical character recognition and identity verification solutions, is summarizing its participation results.

Over the four-day exhibition, OCR Studio showcased its cutting-edge technologies for machine-readable objects and ID documents scanning — all of them were available for hands-on testing by MWC Barcelona attendees at the company’s booth. The company also unveiled a cross-industry OCR system designed to accelerate KYC and customer onboarding across a wide range of business segments.

During MWC Barcelona, OCR Studio demonstrated two core innovations to attendees: the world’s first  AI system for ID scanning on AR glasses and an enhanced version of its document forensics system OCR ID-verify. The AI-powered smart glasses scan identity documents and machine-readable objects entirely on-device, without an internet connection or data transmission. The updated OCR ID-verify detects a broader range of fraud schemes — including the ones with AI-generated and morphed photos.

The technology that attracted particular attention from visitors was a cross-industry OCR system. This solution streamlines KYC processes and reduces the human factor in fintech, travel, gambling, and gaming segments while offering different industry-specific features.

The system includes a face comparison module that helps protect banks and fintech companies from spoofing attacks — the ones where fraudsters attempt to use stolen IDs or leaked ID images. Through the selfie-to-ID photo verification, it matches the client’s live selfie with the document holder’s photo and confirms that the customer is the legitimate identity document holder.

Furthermore, the system supports over 4,000 document templates in 100+ languages — a core requirement for airlines, hotels, and car rental agencies that handle large volumes of clients from around the world on a daily basis. In addition, the cross-industry OCR system conducts age checks, which in various countries are now mandatory for adult content providers such as gambling and betting platforms.

For OCR Studio, MWC Barcelona became the first event in its 2026 exhibition season. However, in a month from now the company will take part in GITEX AI ASIA, the region’s largest technological event, taking place 9-10 April 2026 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
