OCR Studio Enters the Final Day of Its GITEX AI Europe Showcase

OCR Studio, a developer of document forensics solutions, is concluding its two-day showcase at GITEX AI Europe, the region’s largest tech and AI event. Taking place at Messe Berlin, this year’s exhibition is welcoming more than 30,000 tech and business leaders from over 100 countries, bringing together enterprises, startups, investors, policymakers, and public-sector representatives from across the global technology ecosystem.

One of OCR Studio’s headline showcases is its latest technology for detecting deepfake, AI-generated, and morphed identity documents. The technology is especially important for European markets – according to Surfshark, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Spain rank among the ten countries with the highest financial losses from deepfake-related scams, with combined losses reaching $268 million. Integrated into the company’s flagship system, OCR ID-verify, the new technology analyses the underlying structure of an ID image and identifies low-level artefacts left by such AI models as ChatGPT, NanoBanana, Grok, Midjourney, and more.

This year at GITEX AI Europe, OCR Studio is also demonstrating its Face Matching SDK, which supports multiple identity verification scenarios. The technology can compare a live selfie with the portrait displayed on an identity document, match a current face image against a photo stored in a company’s internal records, compare portraits extracted from two different IDs, and cross-check a selfie or visible ID portrait against the document holder’s photo stored in an RFID/NFC chip. Such chips are widely used in European ePassports and electronic identity documents, making NFC cross-checks particularly relevant to European KYC. The SDK compares face images without extracting biometric descriptors, storing biometric templates, or accessing external biometric databases.

Another technology presented at GITEX AI Europe enables companies to scan and verify identity documents directly in a web browser. Powered by WebAssembly, the solution performs document capture, data extraction, and identity verification within the webpage. Customers do not need to download a mobile application and are not redirected to a smartphone if they begin registration on a desktop computer. The entire onboarding flow can take place in one browser session, helping companies reduce customer friction, lower abandonment rates, and improve conversion.

Visitors can test recognition and verification using synthetic samples of European identity documents available at the stand. They can also try OCR Studio’s offline recognition technology on AR glasses, which extract data from identity documents and machine-readable zones directly on the wearable device.
