OCR Studio Announces 2025 Results, Marking ID Scanning Breakthroughs

OCR Studio a developer of optical character recognition systems, has summed up its 2025 results, marking the year as a major step forward in making secure document recognition more accessible and precise. Throughout the year, the company expanded its technologies across platforms and industries, strengthened its presence on the international stage, and advanced its privacy-first approach.

In 2025, OCR Studio updated all of its flagship AI systems and successfully adapted them for web environments — to make this possible, the company’s specialists used the WebAssembly technology. Recognition of ID documents, machine-readable objects, and bank cards became available in all major browsers, including Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. For fintech companies, telecom operators, and other businesses, this means that they can go beyond the limit of their native apps — OCR technologies they use for customer onboarding and document processing can now be seamlessly embedded on their websites.

These browser-based OCR systems eliminate the need to install applications and plugins, which boosts conversion rates and guarantees faster accessibility for clients. Most importantly, they align with OCR Studio’s privacy-first approach — even in web environments these software solutions do not save nor do they transmit personal information to clouds, external servers, or crowdsourcing platforms. Notably, the Arabic ID documents scanner, which was also adapted for browsers, has become the world’s first solution of its kind.

Following the browser adaptation, OCR Studio released two AI toolsets. The first was designed for in-browser age verification by any ID document to help services comply with the UK’s Online Safety Act and the second is aimed at conducting on-device KYC across any platform. Additionally, the functionality of the company’s core products was expanded — OCR MRZ-scan now supports the next-generation ICAO/ISO MRZ Standard, and OCR ID-scan reads the NFC chip, which allows it to perform cross-validation of ID data and detect forgeries more accurately.

The OCR Studio team also launched Industrial OCR — a new generation of OCR technologies built for harsh settings where standard tools fall short. This system can be used in factories, warehouses, and shipping yards as it was designed to recognize license plates, VINs, shipping container IDs, and seal numbers in challenging conditions such as poor lighting, rain, snow, or fog. Powered by ultra-lightweight neural networks, Industrial OCR’s functionality is available even on compact AR glasses.

In the latter half of 2025, OCR Studio opened its second exhibition season and took part in three of the largest international events — returned to GITEX GLOBAL, participated in Money20/20 Middle East in Riyadh and the first MWC Doha, where the company showcased its cutting-edge recognition systems. The company also made its debut at the 18th International Conference on Machine Vision (ICMV 2025) in Paris and unveiled IIRDoc-Net — an advanced neural network architecture that is able to recognize IDs with 32% fewer operations than existing state-of-the-art models. A paper about the new technology will be published in the electronic proceedings of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE).

Throughout the year, OCR Studio strengthened its partner network by signing technical cooperation agreements with GKD Global, a document clearing service provider, and ZeusTech, a leading Greek provider of digital solutions for tourism. OCR solutions helped GKD Global automate document processing and verification of ID cards, passports, and more. For ZeusTech, the company’s technologies accelerated the check-in process to just one second, setting a new standard for efficiency in the hospitality industry.

Last but not least, in 2025, OCR Studio launched an active webinar program and has already hosted five sessions. The topics included building an omnichannel ID scanning system, private age verification, multi-level passport scanning, OCR for logistics and industrial applications, and WebAssembly-powered in-browser OCR. In 2026, OCR Studio will continue developing its AI systems and raise the bar for recognition accuracy even higher.
