OCR Studio Will Host a Webinar on WebAssembly-Powered Browser Computer Vision

OCR Studio, a developer of document recognition systems, will host a webinar on how to run ID and other document scanning directly in the browser with WebAssembly technology. Our expert will explain the core principles behind in-browser OCR: how the recognition module loads into the browser, how execution is managed, and what makes this approach fast, private, and reliable. The webinar will be held at 5 PM (UTC+4) on December 18th, 2025.

WebAssembly (Wasm) is a technology that enables complex computing tasks – like document scanning – to run securely and efficiently right in the browser, almost as fast as native applications. Supported by all major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.), Wasm makes it possible to deploy OCR entirely on a web page on any modern device: desktop, tablet, and even smartphone. This guarantees the same user experience across platforms for clients and reduces companies’ traffic loss.

The upcoming webinar will be hosted by Konstantin Bulatov, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer at OCR Studio – a scientist and engineer who specializes in high-performance OCR and real time recognition systems. During the discussion, he will demonstrate how passports, ID cards, bank cards, and any documents can be captured and recognised right in the browser or a messenger’s mini-app with the company’s Wasm engine. Furthermore, all computations needed for recognition are performed on the end-user’s device, meaning that no data is transmitted to external servers, clouds, or crowdsourcing platforms. The scanning itself is achieved by pointing the phone’s front or rear camera at the document – participants will be able to see this in practice during the webinar.

Our expert will also speak on the evolution of Wasm and talk about its predecessors, explain our privacy-first approach in the development of OCR technologies, and reveal how we made on-device document recognition possible without involving any third parties.
