OCR Studio Debuts the World’s First Browser-Based ID Scanner with Arabic Support at MWC Doha 2025

OCR Studio, a developer of ID scanning technologies, will unveil the first-ever browser-based ID scanner with Arabic language support at the MWC Doha conference that will be taking place on 25-26 November 2025. The event will be held at the Doha Exhibition & Convention Center featuring over 200 exhibitors and attendees from 60+ countries. This year, MWC Doha will bring together experts in AI, intelligent economies, and connected industries, introducing their latest technological solutions in step with Qatar’s National Vision 2030.

Arabic is the official language in more than 20 countries across the MENA region. A vast number of identity documents – passports, ID cards, driving licenses – rely on it. At the same time, Arabic remains a very challenging language to OCR systems, especially ones which perform real-time mobile-based scanning. Not for OCR Studio, however – OCR ID-scan easily handles ID scanning with Arabic fields even in smartphone-captured images.

Attendees will also be given the opportunity to test the system themselves and ensure its resistance to blur, low resolution, and poor lighting. Furthermore, the algorithm works in the browser, so there is no need to install any applications, which makes it the first solution of this kind on the market. This capability was achieved through the use of WebAssembly (Wasm) technology which makes the product completely device-independent.

In addition to the Arabic-enabled ID scanning, attendees will be free to try the ID verification technology that cross-validates data from the ID document's NFC chip, visible and machine readable zones. This enables high-accuracy authenticity checks without transmitting any data to the cloud or external servers. Other AI-powered solutions for recognizing and extracting data from all types of documents, bank cards, and barcodes will be exhibited as well.
